How to Select a Liquid Ring Vacuum Pump for Chemical Process Duty

Start from the process, not the model

A liquid ring vacuum pump should be selected from actual operating conditions. The most important inputs are suction pressure, required capacity at that pressure, gas composition, vapor load, operating temperature and whether the gas contains condensable or corrosive components.

Why liquid ring pumps are common in chemical plants

Liquid ring technology is widely used for wet gas and vapor handling. Compared with dry vacuum pumps, it can be more tolerant of water vapor and small liquid carryover, especially when the system includes a separator, cooler or closed-loop operating liquid circuit.

Information to send before quotation

For a useful quotation, provide the application, target vacuum, pumping speed, gas medium, temperature, inlet pressure, discharge condition, voltage, material requirements and whether a complete skid system is required.
